How we rank
Short version: we read each vendor's own website, record what it publishes with a link and a date, and order vendors by that published information. We do not test products, place test calls or score them.
- Sources: each fact comes from the vendor's own pricing, product, docs or security page, linked on the listing and dated. Last check: Oct 26, 2026.
- Gaps: if a vendor doesn't publish something (price, HIPAA, languages, latency), we show "Not published" or a dash, never an estimate.
- No testing, no scores, no reviews. We have not tested any of these products, so we publish no scores, star ratings or verdicts. Latency, concurrency and language counts are the vendors' own claims, labelled as such.
- Order (rank positions): vendors with published pricing first, then by how complete their public information is (trial, minutes, HIPAA, languages, human backup, integrations), then alphabetically. A higher position means more published information, not a better product.
- Sections: small-business AI receptionists are grouped by industry and feature. Voice AI platforms (tools for building voice agents) and AI call-center software have their own sections, with build style, telephony, LLM choice, latency claims, concurrency and contact-center integrations taken from the vendor's site.
- HIPAA: "BAA available" means the vendor says it signs a Business Associate Agreement; "Claims HIPAA" means it says it is compliant without BAA terms we could see.
- Thin lists go into search only once they have at least 5 vendors.
- Money and sponsored policy: listings are free and no vendor can buy a position. Some outbound links may become affiliate links; they never change facts or order. Outbound vendor links go through /go/ redirects; a link that pays us is marked “(paid link)”, with a note at the top of the page (none pays us today). If we sell a placement (featured listings, not on sale yet), it is shown in grey, labelled "AD · SPONSORED", with no rank number, and the numbering skips it. Full disclosure: How we make money.
- Badges: listed vendors may embed a "Listed on" badge or a rank badge ("#3 in Dental practices · ranked by public data"). The number is the vendor's position in the order above on that list. When it changes, the old badge redirects to the current one. Paid placements never get a badge.
